Get the basics right
While spellcheck can be a fantastic tool, it doesn’t catch every mistake. Proof read your CV to ensure there are no simple errors, be they grammatical or date related. You CV should be factually correct. Always make sure you include correct contact details so the recruiter or employer can contact you with no great difficulty.
Presentation is important
There is no need for extravagant fonts or designs in your CV, in many cases they are distracting and detract from the content of the CV, which in reality is the most important part. The layout should be clear, easy to read and have a logical flow. The reader should not have to hunt for relevant information; it should be visible straight away.
Tailor your CV to the job
Highlight how your experience and skills matches what is required for the job you’re applying for. If it is immediately obvious that you’re a good match for the job then the likelihood of you being called for interview increases. There’s no need to rewrite your CV every single time, just adapt it where necessary.
