Financial Regulation Manager About the Role The Law Society is the professional body for the solicitors' profession. We are inviting applications from suitably qualified persons to join our existing team in the Regulation Department to fill a vacancy arising from internal promotion. This is a key role within the regulation department of the Law Society and involves a wide variety of functions and responsibilities relating to the regulation of the solicitor's profession. Main Duties & Key Responsibilities As Financial Regulation Manager you will be responsible for the management of processes and procedures relating to the Regulation of Practice Committee which deals, inter alia, with matters arising under the Solicitors Accounts Regulations. The committee, which meets in divisions, had 28 general meetings in 2024, to consider individual cases and number of plenary meetings to consider policy issues. Working with a team of professional accountants, solicitors and regulatory executives, your role will involve, communication relating to investigations of solicitors practices on behalf of the committee, compiling the agenda for meetings of the committee, attending meetings of the committee and meeting the requirements of committee members before during and after the meetings. You will be assisted by an experienced team of support staff, and you will be responsible for the management of that team's workload. The role also includes other miscellaneous activities to include reporting the activities of the committee to Council of the Law Society on a regular basis, contributing to the Law Society's annual report and other functions relevant to the regulation of solicitors. The Law Society operates a hybrid working system which means that whilst you will be expected to be in attendance at the Law Society premises for meetings of the committee, and during busy periods, you will be able to work from home from time to time. Knowledge & Skills Experience of working in a regulatory organisation, in particular a quasi-judicial environment, familiarity with regulatory issues relating to the solicitor's profession, in particular the Solicitors Accounts Regulations would be an advantage. Reporting to the Head of Financial Regulation., excellent communication skills, sound judgement and good interpersonal skills are essential.
