Casualty Underwriter

€60000.00 - €65000 per annum bonus, health insurance, pe

My Client is seeking an experienced Casualty Underwriter with a strong background in dealing with brokers and clients. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring underwriting integrity by applying underwriting guidelines and controls, maintaining consistency in risk selection, pricing, and capacity utilization. Your responsibilities will include managing existing cases while also identifying and developing new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite new business and renewals in line with established underwriting guidelines, budget targets, and the local business plan.
  • Support the Casualty Manager in developing and managing the portfolio, enhancing market profile, and fostering producer relationships. This includes regular interaction with brokers, clients, and internal business development managers.
  • Maintain accurate records and oversee existing policies.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and service frameworks set by the company.
  • Contribute to the formulation of underwriting strategies, forecasts, and portfolio management to ensure profitability.
  • Ensure quality control through quantitative underwriting reviews and peer assessments.
  • Act as a corporate representative, promoting the company to brokers and clients both internally and externally.

Experience and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of Public Liability and Employer's Liability coverage, the insurance market, and competitors.
  • Proven experience in a Casualty underwriting environment.
  • Strong track record in building and managing relationships with clients and brokers.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in learning new systems and skilled in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel.
  • Progress towards CIP/ACII qualifications is beneficial, along with a commitment to continuous development of technical and broader business skills.
